Alexandra Tîrșu

Alexandra Tirșu was born in 1992 and studied at the University of Music and Drama in Vienna with Anton Sorokow, and since 2017 at the University of Music and Arts in Vienna with Professor Pavel Vernikov. She came in third, and she was also awarded with the audience prize, at the prestigious ARD competition in 2021. The young musician from Moldova is increasingly appreciated and considered the frontrunner of her generation. Winner of the 2018 Seoul International Music Competition, her performances have been praised in publications such as The Strad, Classical Music Magazine and Südeutsche Zeitung.

Alexandra has performed in Vienna, Berlin, Hamburg, Bucharest, Seoul, Shanghai and Beijing. She has also participated in the Crans Montana Classics Festival and the Sion Music Festival in Switzerland. In 2022 she made her debut with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Kiev Virtuosi Orchestra and has collaborated with Sol Gabetta, Ilian Garnet, Patricia Kopatchinskaia, Ioana Cristina Goicea and Richard Galliano. She has played under the baton of some of the great names of classical music, including Semyon Bychkov, Gabriel Bebeselea, Jose Maria Moreno and Dmitri Jurowsky. She has collaborated with renowned musicians: Ivry Gitlis, Michael Guttman, Răzvan Popovici, Uto Ughi, Boris Brovtsyn and Svetlana Makarova. She often works with a duo of comedians and musicians, Igudesman & Joo, because she wants to bring music closer to the general public.
