Răzvan Popovici Viola Răzvan Popovici was born in Bucharest in a family of musicians and began studying viola with his father, Mugur Popovici. He studied in Salzburg, Paris and Freiburg with Peter Langgartner, Jean Sulem and Wolfram Christ. He has performed as a soloist in the Cologne Philharmonic Hall, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, the Prinzregententheater in Munich and the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, with the Cologne Chamber Orchestra, the Kobe Chamber Orchestra, the National Radio Orchestra in Bucharest, the “George Enescu” Philharmonic, the Kamerata Kronstadt and others. He has collaborated with Juliane Banse, Natalia Gutman, Nobuko Imai, Elena Bashkirova, Radovan Vlatkovic, Gilles Apap, Frans Helmerson, Mihaela Martin, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Louis Lortie, Giovani Sollima and others.

He is a regular guest at festivals around the world: Lucerne Festival, Wiener Festwochen, Kuhmo Festival, Schwetzinger Festspiele, Mintz Festival Tucumán, Festival Academy Budapest, Kobe Music Festival, etc. He has performed in world famous venues including Carnegie Hall in New York, Musashino Hall in Tokyo, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Konzerthaus and Musikverein in Vienna, South Bank and Wigmore Hall in London, YMCA in Jerusalem or Bozar in Brussels. He performs worldwide as a member of the Raro Ensemble. Starting September 2023, Răzvan Popovici will hold a viola professor position at the Royal Conservatory of Anvers.
